Laptop on the legs

May 19, 11 Laptop on the legs

Independent studies done by various scientists in the United States of America have suggested that the use of laptop computers, while keeping them on the legs can cause impotence.

Reports published in the Reuters state that these scientists have suggested that younger men should stay away from the use of portable computers as this could be the potential cause for sexual dysfunction and even the loss of fertility, although the situation has not been declared as alarming.

The report further points out that due to the heat dissipation mechanism that is built at the bottom of the laptops, the heat thus coming out from the device may hurt the legs. The heat can cause damage to the male testes, causing the quality of attenuation and also the quantity of sperm to decrease.

When consulted, Shane Kim, associate professor of urology in State University said that the risk of using mobile computers were even greatly harmful for middle and younger-aged men.

To prove this, Shane and his university associates conducted studies on 29 men, all aged between 21-35 years. The researchers gave these men laptops to work on, and the temperature of the testes was taken before and after their use. The risen temperature of the testes confirmed the point. The experimental figures also showed that even the computer was not used and was just kept running at a feet’s distance, the temperature of the testes rose up by 2.1°C. On the use of these machines, the temperature of the right testes rose by 2.8°C, while that of the left rose by 2.6°C.

A case study published in a medical journal said that a 50-year old man had his thighs pressed to a laptop running for an hour, and that resulted in heartburns to his penis. This was despite the fact that he was wearing underpants and trousers over them. In the experiment conducted by Shane Kim and his colleagues, more than one brand of laptops was used.
