Effectiveness of Testosterone in Treating Impotence
In patients with Hypogonadism, testosterone treatment can improve libido and cure impotence. However, the response to the testosterone treatment of men with erectile dysfunction and experiencing Hypogonadism is not complete. Many men might still need additional oral medications such as Sildenafil, Vardenafil or Tadalafil.
In men over the age of 40 a breast examination, digital examination of the prostate and a PSA level (prostate specific antigen) should be done to exclude breast and prostate cancer before starting testosterone treatment due to testosterone being able to aggravate breast and prostate cancers. Patients who have breast and prostate cancers or are suspected of having them should not use testosterone in any case without consulting a doctor first.
